About Us

About Us

Adventures in Paradise Snorkeling Trips specializes in small group tours to the number one snorkeling & boating destination on the Big Island of Hawaii - Kealakekua Bay.  We are one of only four companies the State permitted to both launch at State of Hawaii Napo`opo`o Pier and land kayaks at Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park.  Following strict environmental, historic preservation, and  educational protocols of the State of Hawaii's DLNR, we also provide our certified lifeguards, CPR and first aid trained guides.  We are insured and founding members of the Kayak Alliance of the Islands who provide marine education to the public at Kealakekua Bay.

Adventures in Paradise Snorkeling Trips has provided snorkeling and kayak trips to Kealakekua Bay for over 10 years and was issued the first State Kayak Landing and Tour permitsThe owners hail from the hospititality and education fields and strive to meet or exceed guests needs and expectations.  The owners are ecologically minded and conservationists at heart, seeking to leave only prints and take only memories from this pristine environment.

Our small group tour format allow us to provide personalized attention to our guests.  Our first commitment is to your safety & enjoyment.  We also strive is to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism.  We know you will enjoy this beautiful place and appreciate our efforts in making your trip enjoyable and memorable.

We offer
daily scheduled
1/2 day trips that involve about equal amounts of paddling and snorkeling.  While the area is relatively undeveloped in which we operate, guests are never more than a mile from city services.  Our kayaking and snorkeling is for short periods of time and do not require more than average physical strength.  Anyone who can comfortably walk a mile, do 5 push ups, or climb a few stairs can complete our trip.

More information:
  • Snorkeling in Hawaii offers an experience not available in the Western United States or Canada.  The water here is warm, clear, and there is abundant life of all kinds: fish, coral reefs, & dolphins..  Our snorkel tours offer an esthetic and ecological way to enjoy all nature has to offer.  Guides offer local color and history on the trip.  Our typical guest ranges in age between 5 and 70 & for about half of them it is their first trip to the Monument.  With the help of your guide the tour is easy for the novice and expert alike.
  • Equipment:  we use sit-on-top kayaks: boats.  Stable and easy to enter and exit these boats are ideally suited for ocean paddling.  We also include on tours quality mask, snorkel and fins.  Wetsuits and prescription masks are available at no extra charge... just ask. Snorkeling is incredible at Capt. Cook Monument!   If spinner dolphins are seen - we will maintain a proper distance to insure we don't disturb them & this fragile ecosystem. The weather  in Kailua-Kona & Kohala is warm, sunny, & clear.  A hat shirt & sunblock are important sun protection here.
  • Marine mammals commonly seen on our trips include: Hawaiian spinner dolphins, sea turtles, and humpback whales (seasonal).  We occasionally see Hawaiian monk seals at Kealakekua Bay.  The conditions are typically better in the morning with more sun and less wind and wave chop.  Snorkeling is incredible at Capt Cook Monument.
  • Brightly colored and unique tropical fish will delight you and the warm water is almost bathwater at 80 degrees F.  Occasionally an endangered green sea turtle or spinner dolphin is seen along our route and we will fully enjoy them from a safe distance. The conditions are typically better in the morning with more sun and less wind.
  • Tours :  7:15 - Noon   $79.95 per person

Advance purchase strongly recommended.
