Kealakekua Bay News There are new rules at Kealakekua Bay for kayak and snorkeling rentals. In the past kayak could go ashore and snorkel from there. State of Hawaii Parks has erected signs at the snorkeling area informing visitors this is no longer allowable without State of Hawaii permits. Further, the State of Hawaii has informed companies that if guests are caught landing they will be both fined and have their equipment confiscated. For those with a couple of kayaks this could mean an extra charge of over $1500. plus the State fines per person. At the same time the State restricted landings to promote marine preservation, they also put into place Guided Kayak Tour landing permits on a limited, supervised basis. We receive 24 permits per day and these are used in our Kealakekua Bay Snorkeling Trips. Join us in this new and more ecologically sensitive way to visit the Bay. Gear

with straps and foam cushions for transporting them on
top of rental cars.
Our gear rentals are setup for experienced water enthusiasts with local knowledge of surf spots and the varying conditions faced here. Anyone unfamiliar with the sea and weather conditions of Kona - regardless of paddling or ocean experience - we recommend taking a guided Snorkeling trip to Capt. Cook.
